I’m still sat on the words of my last post… “I’ll Praise because He is Worthy”.
A few weeks ago we were invited up to North Yorkshire to participate with a prayer gathering. Shortly after we were invited, I had a dream. I was in my grandparents living room with a small-ish group of people. Just before the meeting was about to start, I was asked to lead. Everyone gathered round and I began to share. I didn’t recognise anyone in the room except one person - the UK’s then Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. He was dressed in his suit and looking intently at me, listening and receiving the words I had to share. I began to speak about how the Lord was wanting to turn our mourning into dancing and give us garments of praise. I got everyone to stand up to do prophetic act of putting on garments of praise. Then I woke up.
I knew this dream was significant, and knew it was about the prayer gathering we were invited to. Unbeknown to the lady organising it at first, the gathering was the week before the UK elections. We were gathered in Rishi Sunak’s constituency, with about 15-20 of us in a room called ‘The Granary’ (my grandparents house is called ‘The Granary!!). Then, literally just before the meeting started, I was asked to lead. So, I began to share what I shared in my dream about putting on our garments of praise. That became our focus for the week: Praise. In the midst of a moment of national transition, we got to stand in a place of governance and praise the King of Kings. Simply because He IS Worthy. It was such a sweet time.
Oh Lord, let Praise be the sound that resounds out of the United Kingdom!
Let praise be the sound that resounds out of our mouths too!
I think I said it in my last post as well, but I really do feel that lifting up our praise is so important in this moment. Of course, it’s always going to be important. The Lord is always worthy of our praise. But I feel that for many of us (individually & corporately) we’re in this beautiful moment where we get to stand and praise the Lord before we’ve seen the breakthroughs so many of us have been contending for.
I’m reminded of 2 Chronicles 20 where Jehoshaphat appoints men to go out ahead of the army and sing praise:
“Give thanks to the Lord,
for his love endures forever.”
And as they sung, their enemies were defeated.
But I think so often we talk about praise as a response for what the Lord has done. And there is SO much the Lord has done… I can testify time and again of His faithfulness, His kindness and goodness towards me. But if there’s one thing I feel like I’ve taken from this season, is that there is something SO powerful about praising the Lord simply because He is Worthy. I said in my previous post, but I’d say this past season has been a tough one in many ways. But I’m so grateful for it - I feel like I’m gaining gold. I stand in this place of what I describe as the ‘inbetween’ - the place between what the Lord has spoken and what He is yet to do. It feels like I’ve been here for a little while. Perhaps some of you are in that place too. But for all that I’m still contending for, for the promises that I am yet to see come to pass, I can honestly say that I know with full conviction that my God is good and my God is faithful. I feel this cry of praise deep within, not because of what I’ve seen but because I know who He is. It’s not based on circumstances or even head knowledge. It’s a position of faith - the assurance of things hoped for, and the conviction of things not seen (Hebrews 11 vs 1). And when I think about who He is, it just makes me want to praise Him all the more.
“I will bless the LORD at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul makes its boast in the LORD;
let the humble hear and be glad.
Oh, magnify the LORD with me,
and let us exalt his name together!”
Psalm 34: 1-3 (ESV)
So whether I’m on the mountain top or down in the valley, I will lift up my shout of praise. All glory be to the Worthy One. For He is good, and His love endures forever!
Let us praise for He is Worthy.
Much love,
Katie
P.s. Just a quick note… You may see that I have turned on ‘paid subscribers’. I just decided turn this feature on after I had some ‘pledges to support’ (which was totally unexpected, and I’m an incredibly grateful for - thank you!). But I just wanted to note that all content will be exactly the same for ‘free’ and ‘paid’ subscribers. It’s new to me, so seeing how it all works and hoping it won’t get in the way!
